After reading chapter 11, you have completed part one of the story. In part one, Scout and Jem are innocent children just beginning to understand the complex morality of the adult world. So far, they have seen that some people may be evil. Still evil has never directly touched their lives.
Choose a character you have met and write a one page character analysis of him/her. Use examples from the book to support your opinions. Due Wednesday, November 24.

ReplyDeleteYou chose Scout and Dill. Darcie sees Dill as a humorous and adventurous character. He is his own character, separate from Jem. In a sense, Dill is responsible for setting the action of the plot into motion. It's his imagination that lures Boo out of his house. I think it is worth noting that Dill has no loving family; he is treated as a bother by his mother and he has no father. This could explain his attraction to the Finch family.
ReplyDeleteKeith likes Scout and her complex personality. She has a talent for being charming and tough at the same time. K says Scout is a lot like her father- firm in her beliefs and proud. She has a habit of speaking her own mind in the presence of adults. This makes her seem older than she is, don't you think? Remember that as the narrator, she is writing the story as an adult looking back on these events.
